Informed

The development of this exciting program was a result of local employers expressing concerns about a significant skills gap in the Haliburton community. According to the data compiled by the Workforce Development Board, local employers identified specific skills which are in short supply locally (Workforce Development Board, 2019). STRIVE addresses these identified skills.

Job Seekers & Incumbent Workers

Because of the short duration of STRIVE, this course is a great fit for employers who might consider STRIVE an opportunity for on-the-job training as a means of job retention for those employees who may be struggling. Incentives are available for employers who are interested in hiring graduates of the STRIVE program.

Collaborative

STRIVE is a collaborative effort between Fleming College Academic Upgrading, Fleming CREW Employment Centre and John Howard Society’s Outreach Literacy, as well as the involvement of other community partners such as the Haliburton Highlands Chamber of Commerce and Community Legal Clinic

Essential Skills

Essential skills are the skills that people need for work, learning and life. They are used in the community and the workplace, in different forms and at different levels of complexity.

Job Retention

Improve and refresh your skills in order to excel in the workplace and improve your career path.  Keeping a job can be as challenging as finding one.
